NewYork-Presbyterian/Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, located in Park Slope, Brooklyn, is a level 2 ACS trauma center, Stroke Center with Thrombectomy capability, STEMI/Cath center, and SAFE-designated center with 651-beds, academically affiliated with Weill Cornell Medicine. The Department of Emergency Medicine sees approximately 100,000 patients per year in its adult and pediatric emergency departments. We have an established emergency medicine residency program with 39 total residents, pediatric emergency medicine fellowship with 6 total fellows, and emergency ultrasound fellowship with 5 fellows per year.
Our division, within the department of Emergency Medicine, consists of a separate 10-bedded unit, with additional asthma chairs and pediatric triage area. Our current volume is approximately 18,000/year. We have single and double physician coverage, as well as advanced practice provider coverage throughout the day. We have a dedicated pediatric nursing staff, as well as child life. Our goals as a department are to provide the highest quality care to our patients and offer an exceptional educational experience to our medical students and residents. This includes providing an inspiring and supportive environment which promotes academic endeavors, leadership development, mentorship, diversity, inclusion, and compassionate care.
Brooklyn is known for its’ diverse neighborhoods that attract artists, professionals, singles and families, as well as visitors from all over NYC and around the world. Known for its’ excellent public schools, Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, the Barclays Center, Brooklyn Bridge Park and in the borough’s southern extremes, the surf is always up on Coney Island. As one of the most ethnically diverse urban areas in the world, Brooklyn can satisfy nearly every taste. The salary range for this position is $245K-$290K. This compensation range does not include our amazing benefits and any incentive payments, based on quality measures and productivity, that may be applicable to this role.
The selected candidate will hold an academic appointment at Weill Cornell Medical College. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and credentials.
